Investment

G4-DMA

Environmental and social (ES) considerations are an integral part of our business / client approval process and apply globally irrespective of exposure. One exception to this rule is issuance of guarantees where we apply a certain threshold. Our ES due diligence takes consideration of Human Rights including rights of indigenous people into account. All transaction that might have an impact on Human Rights including indigenous rights, are being reviewed. If there are instances of breaches appropriate mitigation measures will be agreed. The implementation is monitored internally and in the majority of cases by an independent 3rd party. Our current approach of managing ES risks incl. human rights issues does not allow for a detailed analysis of the number of investments that underwent human rights screening. In accordance with the ES Risk Framework, business divisions have the initial responsibility for identifying potential social risks but a specific human rights monitoring is not in place yet. In 2015 we are working on the improvement of the processes to allow for specific monitoring.
